Kottara Ward Day Celebration Back

KOTTARA WARD DAY CELEBRATION

The Stage programme was compered by Mr. Jeethan Castelino. A few ward members invoked God’s Blessings on the event through a Kannada hymn. The audience was welcomed by a welcome dance from the teenagers of the ward (Jessica, Payal, Rolita). The Gurkar Mr. Vincent Castelino welcomed the gathering after the dignitaries of the event were welcomed to the dais. The Secretary of the ward, Mrs. Letitia Castelino read a detailed report on the activities taken up by the ward in the past 2.5 years.

The achievers of the ward were then felicitated with a memento. Also, a retired teacher of Kottara School, 85 years old Smt. Juliana Furtado, currently residing in Highway Ward, along with Shri Abdul Samad and Shri Manjunath who are rendering their service in our ward as postmen for several years were felicitated with a shawl, flowers/fruits, a memento and a gift. Small Christian Community Coordinator Mr. Gerald Castelino, Parish Secretary Mrs. Lizzie Fernandes, Parish Vice-President Mr. Edward Coelho, Residential Priest Rev. Fr. Gratian Alvares and the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Austin Peris spoke a few words saying ward day is an opportunity for giving and sharing happiness and that Kottara Ward members are actively participating in various activities of the Parish and the enthusiasm in providing service of the ward members is commendable. Further, they also wished the Ward members very well for the future. The venue hosts for the event, Mr. Ivan and Mrs Jacintha Misquith, Main sponsor Mr. Lawrence D’souza, Fellowship Sponsors Mrs. Emilia Mascarenhas, Lobo brothers (Rony, Dony and Prakash) and Mr. Nelson Castelino were felicitated with a rose.

After the stage programme, the cultural programme was commenced by M.C. Mr. Jeswin Castelino. Dances by small kids as well as youngsters, Jokes by “Jerry - Vincy Comedy Circle” such as Baniyan Purana, Lottery Utli, Paap Matari, Brigadier Maam as well as skits like Aasth - Badhik, Mujya Lana Bhavank, Nirapradhi and Interview, Charlie Chaplin mono-acting by Mr. Ronald D’souza were presented on the stage. The cultural programme was entertaining and enjoyed by the audience. Both the M.C’s of the stage as well as cultural programme, Mr. Jeethan Castelino and Mr. Jeswin Castelino were felicitated with a rose. The vote of Thanks was given by the Ward Representative Mrs. Helen D’ Souza. The Parish Priest rendered the grace before meals and the Gurkar declared the food counter open in a traditional manner. Post dinner, the event was concluded with a Baila dance from all Ward members.
