Chowki Ward Members Extend Lenten Service to Daya Special School on 25 March 2024

In a spirit of Lenten service, the members of Chowki Ward embarked on a meaningful visit to Daya Special School, Belthangady.

Daya Special School, a beacon of inclusivity under the auspices of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra, provides nurturing care and education to 113 differently abled children, transcending barriers of caste and creed. Led by the Assistant Director, Rev. Fr. Rohan Lobo, the ward members were warmly welcomed and enlightened about the school's journey from inception to its present commendable stature.

Witnessing firsthand the dedication of the qualified staff and the holistic approach to education, the members toured the vibrant academic classes, speech therapy audio room, and skill & art classes. Moved by the creativity and resilience of the children some purchased articles crafted by them, exemplifying support for their endeavours.

A highlight of the visit was the captivating performances by some differently abled children, showcasing their talents in dance and music, leaving an indelible impression on all.

Generous contribution towards the daily expenses of the children was gratefully received, underscoring the community's commitment to their well-being. A sumptuous lunch at Daya further fostered a sense of camaraderie among the ward members.

Continuing their journey, some proceeded to Dayalbagh Ashram, where they were warmly welcomed by the Director Fr. Joel Lopes, and Fr. Prakash, Assistant Director. Nestled amidst the greenery of arecanut and coconut groves, rubber plantations, and diverse animal life, the Dayal Bagh exemplifies St. Francis' love for nature and harmony.

Led by Fr. Prakash and Fr. Joel, the group explored the farm's bounty, witnessing the dedicated agricultural endeavours of Fr Fredrick Braggs, the Superior of Dayalbagh. The evening concluded with the priests' gracious hospitality, as all savored snacks and tea before bidding farewell, with hearts filled with gratitude and cherished memories.

The outing, a testament to compassion and community spirit, will undoubtedly resonate within the hearts of the Chowki Ward members for a long time.
