Little Children Receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion at Most Holy Redeemer Church

Along with the Sacrament of Baptism, the First Holy Communion is one among the sacraments of Initiation.
The First Holy Communion was held at the Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail on 19th September 2021 at 9:00 AM mass. It was a joyful day as nine children received their First Holy Communion. Rev Fr Austin Peres was the main celebrant. Rev Fr Jovin Sequeira, Rev Fr Gerald Pinto, and Rev Fr Walter Pinto concelebrated the mass.
In his homily, Fr Jovin gave examples of young saints and quoted their sayings. He told the children how Jesus is their friend and companion always.
The entire liturgy was carried out by the communicants. Also, a hymn was sung by the communicants just before receiving Jesus into their hearts. Mrs. Dora D'Cunha and Sr Marceline were thanked for preparing the little ones for this special day. The children were presented with a scapular and rosary by their parents and a certificate by the priest as a token to remind them of their First Holy Communion Day.
