Dhonu -2014 Back

Dhonu-an exclusive stage for the expression and presentation of mutiple folds of talents. The exclusive vividity in the talents that the Most Holy Redeemer parish holds was exhibited in the 11 competitions organized by the YSD (Yuva Spandan Derebail) on the 30th of November. Competitions like Collage making, Wealth out of Waste, Rangoli, Drawing, Devotional hymns recital, Narration of Biblical Stories, Extempore, Turn Coat, Flower Arrangement, Face Painting and Poetry writing drew the attention of many parishioners. The competitions commenced at sharp 9 am and came to a smooth closure at about 5 in the evening. Over 250 parishioners participated in these competitions with great enthusiasm.

What made the Dhonu competition a grand success was the huge response that it received. From young children to adults, all were a part of this event. In competitions like Flower Arrangement, Rangoli and Wealth out of waste-where categories were a bit flexible- one could see parents compete against their children with the true spirit of sportsmanship. Probably these competitions got out the best in people with hidden talents.

The YSD members had indeed put in a lot of effort to stage this great event. Every detail was taken care of. Experts were invited as judges. The YSD President, Sheldon Alvares  and the Convenor of the Dhonu event, Rohan Monis along with their team of co-ordinators and volunteers did a tremendous job to bring to the fore the extraordinary talents of the church. The Dhonu competitions however ended on a promising note- a promise of continuing to host Dhonu once again and a promise of being a participant in it once again.
