Konchady Ward Celebrates Ward Day 2025 with Joy and Community Spirit

The members of Konchady Ward came together in a vibrant celebration of unity and faith as they marked Ward Day 2025 on Saturday, November 22, at 7:00 PM at NJ Aura Apartment.

The evening commenced with prayer led by members of Konchady Ward, setting a solemn and joyful tone for the festivities. A graceful welcome dance was performed by Meghan Menezes, followed by a warm welcome address from Sheela Dsouza, the Ward Gurkar. Ajith Albuquerque, the Ward Representative, presented a concise annual report highlighting the ward’s achievements and activities over the past year.

A lively cultural programme enthralled the audience, beginning with an adorable dance performance by the ward’s little children. The event also honoured two special occasions: Children’s Day (celebrated nationally on November 14) and International Men’s Day (observed on November 19). Young achievers and all the men of the ward were felicitated amid applause and cheers. Jovita captivated the audience with a beautiful Konkani song, adding a soulful and melodious highlight to the Ward Day celebrations.

The entertainment continued with a humorous “lazy dance” by ward members, followed by exciting spot games skilfully conducted by the evening’s emcee, Gladson Monteiro. A proud moment came when Rishon Mascarenhas was honoured by the guests for securing a bronze medal in the Health and Hygiene examination at the All India Nau Sainik Camp (AINSC) 2025.

Laughter filled the hall during a short fun skit performed by ward members, and all the singers joined in singing traditional Baila songs, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Dignitaries gracing the occasion included Rev. Fr Joseph Martis - Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Steevan Nelson Peris - Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Kevin Dsouza - Former Assistant Parish Priest, Sr Juliana Tellis - Superior, St Ann’s Convent, Sr Maria Aranha Headmistress, St Ann’s High School, Sr Nirmala, Brother Augustin, and Anil Patrao - Coordinator of the 21 Pastoral Commissions.

In his address, Rev. Fr Joseph Martis appreciated the active participation of the ward members and encouraged continued community service and faith-based initiatives. Helen Menezes, Ward Representative, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guests, performers, and all participants.

Rev. Fr Steevan Nelson Peris invoked grace before meals, after which the celebration concluded on a high note with a sumptuous dinner followed by music and dance that kept everyone on the floor till late in the evening.

The successful Ward Day 2025 reflected the strong bond and enthusiastic spirit of Konchady Ward members, reinforcing its commitment to faith, culture, and togetherness.
