Christmas Celebration by Kuntikan  Ward

The Kuntikan Ward of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail, joyfully celebrated the festival of Christmas on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Plama Residency Apartment Hall. The celebration was marked by a vibrant spirit of joy, unity, and festive cheer, bringing together people of all ages and communities.

The programme commenced with a melodious prayer song rendered by the ward members, invoking God’s blessings upon the gathering. The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis, along with the President of Plama Residency, Mr. Austin Dias, Secretary Mr. Avinash Rai, and Treasurer Mr. Devdas Alva, were accorded a warm and respectful welcome with the offering of flowers.

In his inspiring Christmas message, Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis encouraged everyone to spread peace, love, and goodwill. He reminded the gathering of the importance of sharing time, care, and compassion with the elderly, especially during the festive season, to bring joy and happiness into their lives.

A beautiful and meaningful live crib presented by the ward members captivated the audience and reflected the true essence of Christmas. Ward Gurkar, Mrs. Leena Lobo, spoke eloquently on the significance of Christmas and narrated the story of Santa Claus, much to the delight of the children. Christmas carols in Kannada, English, and Konkani filled the hall with devotion, joy, and festive warmth.

Adding to the festive spirit, Santa Claus distributed chocolates to the children, followed by the distribution of Kuswar packets and soft drinks to all those present. Spot games organized by Mrs. Savitha D’Souza brought laughter, enthusiasm, and active participation among the attendees. The celebration was further enriched by graceful dance performances by the ward members. Musical accompaniment by Mr. Anil Lobo on the trumpet and Mr. Reon Pinto on the guitar added a lively and cheerful touch to the programme.

Approximately 70 residents of Plama Residency, comprising Hindus, Muslims, and Christians, along with ward members, participated in the celebration, making it a truly inclusive and memorable occasion. The programme concluded with an energetic baila dance. Mrs. Leena Lobo proposed the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event. The programme was gracefully compered by Ms. Noeleen H. Pais.

The Christmas celebration concluded on a joyful and harmonious note, leaving everyone with cherished memories and the true spirit of Christmas in their hearts.
