Swachh Derebail Back

Swachh Derebail, an initiative by Y.S.D. which focused on cleaning the surroundings in Derebail was held on November 30 2015. The formal inauguration was held at 3 p.m. Y.S.D. Vice President Ivy Melisha D’souza conducted the inauguration. The Guests and the volunteers were welcomed by Y.S.D. Joint Secretary Kevin Suares. The members of Legion of Mary lead the prayer by a prayer song. 

The Administrator, Rev. Fr Vincent  Menezes greeted the gathering and invoked God’s blessings. The Chief Guest was the ward’s corporator, Mr Rajesh who spoke a few words about the importance of cleaning the environment and how the corporation is planning to keep Mangalore clean. He also extended his appreciation and wishes to the volunteers for their good will. Preston Sequeira delivered his vote of thanks, followed by Y.S.D. President Sheldon Alvares, who gave the necessary instructions.

The work took almost 3 hours. Cleaning of the medians, the footpath and its surrounding was carried effectively. The waste was disposed with the help of Antony Waste Truck. The refreshments were provided to all the volunteers. 

Cleaning the environment is not the only duty we have, but also to keep it that way. So, let’s keep our city clean.
