International Women's Day 2023

International Women's Day 2023 was celebrated at Derebail church on the 5th of March, 2023.

Catholic Sabha alongwith Sthree Sangatan and Family, Health and Women's Commission jointly organised the celebrations. 

A special Thanksgiving Mass was concelebrated for the women of  the parish at 9 am.

A seminar on 'Cancer Awareness and Women Related Health Issues'  was organised as part of the programme. Dr Kamalaksha Shenoy, HOD, Oncology and Dr Kavita, Professor, Dept of Oncology of AJ Hospital & Research Center were the resource persons. 

Catholic Sabha President , Mr Anil Patrao welcomed the gathering. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Rev.Fr. Gerald Pinto, Rev.Sr.Burnice, Superior, St Anns convent and Sthree Sangatan Varado President Mrs Ida Sequeira were the Guests of Honour. They were joined by Mrs Sheela D'Souza, Vice President, PPC and Sthree Hitha Sanchalaki, Catholic Sabha, Mr Denzil Pinto, Secretary, PPC, Mrs Mercy Menezes, President, Sthree Sangatan and Convenor, Womens commission,  Mrs Juliana Coelho, Secretary, Catholic Sabha, Mrs Grace D'Souza, Secretary, Sthree Sangatan, Mr Cyprian D'Souza, Convenor, Family Commission, Dr Alfreeda Lavina Pinto, Convenor, Health commission, Mr Edward Coelho, Coordinator of Commissions on the dais. 

Dr Alfreeda Lavina Pinto introduced the resource persons. 

Mrs Grace D'Souza gave a glimpse of the activities of the Sthree Sangatan. 

The achievers of the parish were felicitated on the occasion.

Mrs Preethan Renita Pereira, Landlinks upper ward was felicitated for her hat trick achievement in 2020 -22 in the All India Poetry Recital Competition organised by Kavitha Trust (R).
Smt Juliet Fernandes, Kottara Cross ward on recieving the 'ಗಡಿನಾಡ ಧ್ವನಿ ಕಾವ್ಯ ಭೂಷಣ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ' 2023. Ms Alma Lathisa Pinto, Bejai ward was felicitated for bagging the second place in the Catholic Sabha Diocesan  Level Elocution Competition 2022 in the High School category.Ms. Sharon Rania Fernandes, Barebail lower ward on successful qualification as Strategic Professional Affiliate of the Association of Chartered Certified  Accountants in the ACCA Examination, 2022 - 23.Mr Mavil Antony Rodrigures, Parapade upper ward was felicitated for his successful qualification as Associate Member of the institute of Chartered Accountants of India in the CA examination, 2022-23. All the women gurkars and the women Presidents and animators of church organisations and women office bearers of Catholic Sabha were also felicitated.  

Mrs Preethan Pereira replied to the honour on behalf of all honorees. 

Mrs Dora D'Cunha managed the felicitation program. 

Mr Cyprian D'Souza and group rendered the felicitation song. 

Prizes for various competitions held by Sthree Sangatan were distributed.

In his address Rev Fr Joseph Martis congratulated and wished all the women present. He also had a few words of wisdom.

Mrs Mercy Menezes proposed the vote of thanks.

The celebrations ended with a fellowship meal.

Mrs. Geetha Nazareth from Bejai ward compered the program in a lively and excellent manner.
