Joyous Occasion at Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail: 21 Children Receive their First Holy Communion

21 children of Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail received their First Holy Communion on  5 May, 2024, during the 9 a.m. mass. The Eucharistic Celebration began with an entrance procession  of the communicants along with their parents. The parish priest Rev.Fr.Joseph Martis welcomed everyone to this auspicious occasion and asked the devotees to pray for the little communicants.

Rev.Fr.Leo Lasrado, the main celebrant along with Rev.Fr.Joseph Martis, Rev. Fr. Santhosh Rodrigues, Rev.Fr. Walter Pinto, Rev.Fr. Preetham Mendonca, Rev. Fr. Rony Lobo and Rev.Fr. Conel Correa celebrated the Holy Eucharist. 

In his homily, Fr.Joseph reached out to the little communicants and their families and emphasized the power of Jesus's love in one's life. He highlighted the profound joy experienced when Jesus comes into one's heart, noting how his mere presence brought happiness wherever he went. Encouraging parents, he stressed the importance of guiding children towards Jesus. Concluding his message, Fr.Joseph urged the parishioners to keep the communicants in their prayers.

The communicants sang a hymn before receiving communion. This captured the hearts of all present. 

The communicants led the entire liturgy, contributing to the reverent ambiance of the service. The sweet melodies of the Children's Choir further elevated the spiritual experience. As the mass concluded, each communicant received a blessed rosary and certificate. 

The Parish Priest expressed his gratitude and acknowledged each and everyone involved in organizing the service. He offered special thanks to Mrs. Dora D'Cunha and Mrs. Pramila Furtado for their dedicated efforts in teaching Catechism and preparing the communicants for the liturgy.

Refreshments were served for the communicants and their parents after the mass.
