Ward Day Celebration at Kottara Ward

On April 28, 2024,  Kottara ward offered Thanksgiving mass at Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail at 7:00 AM in observance of their ward day. More than 80 ward members were present. 

Thereafter, the Ward Day celebration began at 5:30 PM at the residence of Mr. Ivan and Mrs. Jessie Misquith.

Utilizing the customary Mangalorean "Panpod Udak," Mr. Michael D'Silva and the committee members greeted the guests.

The programme resumed by invoking God's blessing with a prayer song in Kannada. The guests were welcomed by a welcome dance. 

The dignitaries Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis, the parish priest, Mrs. Sheela D'Souza, vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council, Mr. Denzil Pinto Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, Mr. Anil Patrao 21 Ayog Convener, Sr. Bernis Mother Superior of St. Ann's Convent Derebail, Helen D'Souza and Mr. Jeethan Castelino ward representative, Mr. Richard D'Souza Convener of Ward Day, and Mr. Michael D'Silva Ward Gurkar graced the occasion.

The yearly report was given by Helen D'Souza. The dignitaries honoured the elders of the ward Mrs. Lizzy D'Silva, Mrs. Mary Lobo, and Mrs. Lily D'Souza. Lucy Nazareth and Eva Dcunha who were not present will be honoured during the week. In addition, Mr. Gerald Castelino, Mr. Vincent Castelino, and Mr. Walter Mascarenhas, the previous three Gurkars, received recognition for their unceasing contributions to the ward. The parish priest thanked the ward members for their efforts and their solidarity in advancing any cause in his message.

Children and adults performed dance, skit, jokes, and singing as part of the cultural programme. The show was emceed by Renisha Lobo and Mrs. Lavisha Castelino.

Mr. Richard D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks. The programme ended with baila and a sumptuous dinner. All the ward members enjoyed the day filled with great spirit and enthusiasm.
