Confraternity Sunday Procession: Derebail Parishioners Participate in Procession and demonstrate their love for Christ

The Confraternity Sunday was celebrated at Derebail Church on 29th October, 2023 at 4.30 pm. Rt Rev Dr Francis Serrao Bishop of Shimoga diocese was the main celebrant. Rev. Fr Joseph Martis, Parish Priest and Rev. Fr Kevin Dsouza concelebrated the mass.
The homily highlighted regarding Eucharist, What is Eucharist and How to build a Parish around the Eucharist. Eucharist is not a program but a project, it's not a noun but a verb. Sacrificing life entirely for others was God's work, hence he taught us also to do the same. By doing this there will be love, togetherness in the Parish. We need not die like Jesus but we need to live our lives like Jesus by doing good things for the people around us.
After the mass procession a was held. The procession began from the entrance of the church towards Konchady Katte, turned back to head towards Kuntikan Junction and returned to the church. All the parishioners showed their unity by wearing white/ off white clothes, carrying candles, singing hymns during the procession. The Confraternity Sunday came to an end with the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The Church choir sung beautiful hymns at the Eucharistic Celebration and during the procession.
After the Eucharistic Celebration, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis expressed his gratitude to Rev. Fr Francis serrao Bishop of Shimoga diocese for gracing the occasion and for concelebrating the mass. He also thanked all the parishioners, members of various associations of the parish and for the youth of Derebail parish for their active participation. He also thanked Mrs. Felcy lobo for the commentary in kannada for the entire procession.
