Celebration of Altar Servers and Legion of Mary Day

The Annual day of Altar Servers and Legion of Mary association was celebrated at The Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail on 10th September 2023. The celebration began with a Thanksgiving mass Mass at 9 A.M with Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis Parish Priest as the main celebrant.

During the Mass the Altar Servers pronounced their oath and received their shoulder cape. Receiving the shoulder cape is a significant moment for those who assist during the Eucharistic Celebration. This cape, often worn during religious ceremonies, symbolizes the server's commitment to their role and their willingness to assist in the liturgy. It is a visible sign of their dedication to the Church and their participation in the worship service. And the members of Legion of Mary Association received a ribbon along with a medal of Mother Mary as a sign of membership in the Legion of Mary group. It signifies their commitment to the group's mission and principles, as well as their dedication to serve the Church and the community. This ribbon serves as a visible symbol of your affiliation with the Legion of Mary, and it's a reminder of their role in promoting spirituality and outreach.

After the Holy Eucharist all the children gathered in Church Jubilee Hall where they celebrated the birthday of Bro. Mariswami by cutting the cake. Then participated in games which were conducted by Mrs. Pramila Furtado, Fr. Kevin D’Souza, Bro. Loywin and Bro. Mariswami. It was a fun filled experience for all the children and they were very happy. After conducting the games a sumptuous meal was served for all.
At 4:30 P.M. cultural programme was organised by Altar Servers and members of Legion of Mary association. The Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis, Asst. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Kevin D’Souza, Vice President Mrs. Sheela D’Souza, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council Mr. Denzil Pinto, Co- Ordinator of 21 commissions Mr. Anil Patrao, Headmistress of St. Ann’s High School Sr. Maria Aranha, Bro. Loywin and Bro. Mariswami, Co- Ordinator of Catechism association Mrs. Helen Menezes, Legion of Mary association Chief Guide Sr. Shalini D’Souza and Mrs. Pramila Furtado, Altar Severs Chief Guide Mr. Alwin Carvalo were present on the dais.
To encourage the children the parents of the Altar Servers and members of Legion of Mary Association were present. They all enjoyed the beautiful performances of their children and appreciated them.
