Nativity Feast Celebration at Kuntikan Junction Ward
The glorious Feast of Nativity was celebrated with enthusiasm, joy and delight by the members of Kuntikan Junction Ward on 21st September, 2025 at 6:30pm, where everyone gathered at St. Ann’s Convent, Kuntikan. This celebration being the first Nativity feast to happen after 15 Years under the able leadership of the gurkar Mrs. Mable Fernandes along with the unwavering encouragement and support from the ward representatives and all the ward members, brought this momentous occasion to life in splendour marking this evening blessed, and that of devotion and tradition.
The programme commenced with a short yet meaningful ward meeting, followed by the festivities. The celebration began with the gracious host Mrs.Precilla Lidwin, extending a warm welcome to the distinguished guests Parish Priest Rev.Fr.Joseph Martis, Assistant Parish Priest Rev.Fr.Steevan Nelson Peris, Sr. Maria, Parish Council Vice President Mrs. Sheela D’Souza, and 21 Commissions Coordinator Mr. Anil Patrao, with roses. Rev Fr. Joseph Martis led special prayers, seeking the blessings of Mother Mary for harmony, moral integrity, and the well-being of all ward members. As a symbol of their faith and reverence all the ward members offered flowers to Mamma Mary while singing the traditional hymn "Moriyek Hogolsiya”. The newly blessed grain was the ceremonially cleansed, powdered and then blended into the vorn. This was reverently distributed among all.
A heartfelt felicitation ceremony was held for the elderly to honour their wisdom and presence, while the young girl children of the ward were celebrated with special gifts, symbolizing hope, purity, and the radiant future of the community.
Fr. Joseph Martis encouraged all members to actively participate in ward meetings and take wholehearted part in every event. Sr. Maria, Mrs. Sheela D’Souza, and Mr. Anil Patrao also addressed the gathering, commending the efforts of the ward members in organizing such a meaningful event and emphasized the importance of unity within the community.
Taking this opportunity a special felicitation was done to honour Mr. Mark Pereira and family as they recently joined the ward. Mr.Mark Pereira’s family comprises his wife, his son, and his elderly mother aged 95. In a touching gesture, Fr. Steevan Nelson Peris welcomed the grandmother and presented her with a rose, honoring her with warmth and reverence.
The evening further blossomed into a joyous time of fellowship. Engaging games, thoughtfully arranged by Mrs. Precilla Lidwin, filled the atmosphere with smiles and laughter for all to enjoy. A delightful dance performance by two adorable little sisters Sarah Dcunha and Samyra Dchuna was followed by a soulful song melodiously sung by Sister Sunitha and Miss Taniha Fernandes, captivating everyone with their talent and charm.
The vote of thanks was proposed by the ward representative Mrs.Monica Suares.
The celebration concluded with a lavish dinner, where all the delicious dishes were thoughtfully prepared by the dedicated ward members. Indeed, the Nativity Feast at Kuntikan Junction Ward was not merely a celebration, but a grand symphony of faith, unity, tradition, jubilance, fellowship, strengthening the bond as one family under the loving protection of Mother Mary. A chapter forever etched in the legacy of the ward.
