Landlinks Lower Ward Celebrates Elders Back
Landlinks Ward Celebrates Elders’ Day
The members of Landlinks Ward dedicated 12th October 2025 to honour and celebrate the elders of their ward. The celebration began with a Thanksgiving Mass at 7 AM on Sunday, followed by a special gathering at 12.15 PM at the residence of the Gurkar, Mrs. Shaila Noronha.
The event was graced by the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis, Associate Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Steevan Nelson Peris, Parish Vice President Mrs. Sheela Dsouza, Secretary Mr. Denzil Pinto, the Sisters of Maria Bhavan Convent, and the Coordinator of 21 Commissions Mr. Anil Patrao. The senior members of the ward—those aged above 65—were the special dignitaries of the day.
The programme commenced with a prayer song, Bible reading, and a short recollection, setting a reverent tone for the day. Gurkar Mrs. Shaila Noronha extended a heartfelt welcome to all dignitaries, elders, and special invitees from Landlinks and Landlinks Upper Ward. The welcome was beautifully complemented by a dance performance by the children of the ward.
Miss Sweedal Noronha’s touching speech on the love and support of grandparents won everyone’s hearts, followed by Alita Cutinho’s melodious singing.
To express gratitude and appreciation, Fr. Joseph Martis honoured the elders with flowers and gifts, a gesture that filled the atmosphere with warmth and emotion.
Baby Kaelyn’s heart-touching poem on grandparents was received with admiration, while the father-son duo, Mr. George and Gavin, enthralled the audience with their mouth organ and guitar performance. Representing all elders, Mr. John Permanur shared his reflections on life in the past and present, offering nostalgic insights. Adding a delightful dose of humour, a comic skit written by Mrs. Felcy Lobo was enacted by Mr. William Corderio, Mrs. Dulcine Cutinho, Baby Racheal, and Baby Kaelyn.
Later, the dignitaries distributed prizes to the winners of various games organized by Mrs. Felcy Lobo and Mrs. Flavia Menezes.
In his concluding address, Fr. Joseph Martis lauded the ward members for organizing such a vibrant and meaningful celebration. He congratulated the Gurkar and representatives for their initiative and for fostering unity and harmony within the ward community.
Mrs. Flavia Menezes, ward Representative, rendered the Vote of Thanks. Fr. Steevan Nelson Peris prayed grace over meals.
Everyone joined together for a fellowship meal, sharing moments of joy and togetherness. The Elders’ Day celebration was indeed a beautiful and memorable event, filled with love, gratitude, and laughter that truly honoured the senior members of the ward.
A total of 80 members, including 20 Elders, were present for the celebration.
Mrs. Felcy Lobo gracefully compered the programme, keeping the audience engaged throughout.
