Kottara Ward's Service Visit – Veronica Vihar, Mary Hill
_“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:40_
Kottara Ward members visited Veronica Vihar, a home for specially abled women run by the Apostolic Carmelite Sisters on Sunday, 28th June at 4 pm. A total of 40 ward members, including children, youth, women, and men, participated in this service activity.
Sr. Merlyn warmly welcomed the gathering of ward members. The visit began with a prayer song by the ward youth and children. The kids entertained the inmates and ward members with two comedy skits, while the women presented a konkani song. Games were arranged for the inmates and it was a joy to see them participate enthusiastically.
Sr. Marira Jyothi, founder of St. Agnes Special School and also the founder of this home, shared her experience of how she began working with specially abled children.
Mike Dsilva, Gurkar, thanked all the ward members for their support, and he was grateful to Sr. Juliana D’Souza, who was instrumental in making this visit possible.
Snacks and cool drinks were shared as part of the visit. Ward members donated provisions that were required by the home.
The visit concluded with a Thanksgiving hymn and it was indeed a memorable evening of fellowship and service for the inmates of Veronica Vihar as well as for the Kottara ward members.
