Kottara Ward Celebrates the Nativity of Mother Mary

Kottara ward members met at the residence of Mrs. Lizzy D'silva to celebrate the Nativity feast of Mother Mary along with the Small Christan community meeting on the evening of 20th September 2026.

Gurkar,  Mr. Michael Dsilva welcomed the gathering. Mr. Vincent Castelino presided as MC, Mrs. Molly Pinto conducted the 7 steps. 

Mrs. Letiticia Castelino invited the Lord amidst the gathering. The Word of  God was read from John's Gospel, chapter 10, verses 7 to 18. 'I am the Good Shepherd' was chosen as 'Living Word for the month'.  A detailed report of the previous month was presented by Mrs. Jyothi Lobo. The Gurkar shared key announcements and took feedback on last month's service activity of visiting the Church cemetery and praying for the departed souls. He discussed the ward activities for the forthcoming months and requested suggestions on the service activities. 

Mrs. Celine Pinto gave the Vote of thanks. The meeting concluded with personal prayers by ward members and a Marian hymn, followed by refreshments served by the hosts.

After a short break,  Mrs. Lavisha Castelino conducted a Marian quiz and Bible themed activity games for the audience. Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis and Rev. Fr. Steevan Nelson Peris graced the occasion. Mrs. Marina Mascarenhas led the gathering in prayer and Fr. Joseph Martis said the Grace before meals. 

The children and adults offered flowers from their garden to Mother Mary and sang hymns. Post that, novem with Roce was shared with all ward members. The Ward members prepared Roce, Shevio, Allu Dento, Moog Sukko, Chenne sukke, Gosale, Sango, Karathe, Karamb, Rice and Vorn and enjoyed the sumptuous dinner. Prizes were distributed to the winning team and the evening ended with Thanksgiving to the Lord almighty.
