YEAR OF CHILDREN 2026

The Year of Children was solemnly inaugurated at Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail on 11th January 2026 during the 9 AM Children's Mass.  The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Wilson Tauro OCD, who was the main celebrant.

At the beginning of the Mass, the Year of Children was formally inaugurated. The inauguration was symbolically represented by two children, a parent,  along with the Main celebrant  Fr Wilson Tauro OCD, Parish Priest Rev. Fr.Joeph Martis, Assistant Parish Priest Fr.Nelson Peris, Br.Augustine, the Parish Council Vice President Mr.Denzil Fernandes and Secretary Mrs.Clotilda. This meaningful representation highlighted the shared responsibility of the Church, family, and parish community in nurturing and guiding children.

In his sermon, Fr. Wilson Tauro, spoke beautifully about the significance of The Year of Children and the importance of dedicating a year specially for Children. He emphasized the value of children in the life of the Church and society, encouraging parents and the faithful to guide children with love, faith, and good values.
The inauguration marked a meaningful beginning to a year dedicated to the spiritual, moral, and holistic development of children in the parish, calling upon the entire community to support and care for them with commitment and compassion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Parish Priest encouraged children to participate actively in parish activities and invited parents to pray for and guide their children in faith. The Year of Children is an initiative that aims to strengthen family and community bonds, fostering spiritual growth in every child.
