Way of the Cross: Parishioners Contemplate Jesus' Suffering on the Cross on Good Friday
Good Friday is a day that brings back to one's mind the sufferings that Jesus endured for the salvation of mankind. The parishioners of Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail assembled at 8 AM for a prayer service at the church. The Parish priest Rev.Fr. Austin Peres led the prayer service.
The parishioners then moved to the Holy Family School Grounds for the Way of the Cross. Rev. Fr. Gerald began the Way of the Cross with a short prayer. Eleven Stations of Jesus' passion were placed at multiple points in the school grounds and in front of the hall. The Way of the Cross ended with the final station near the church. After the Way of the Cross a concluding prayer was recited.
The highlight of the entire Way of the Cross was that the women of the parish carried Mother Mary's statue and men carried Jesus'.
The Way of the Cross indeed helped the parishioners to symbolically and spiritually partake in Jesus' Suffering.
