Nativity Feast 2021 Back

NATIVITY FEAST 2021

As a preparation for the feast of Nativity, children take flowers and offer them to Mother Mary on nine consecutive days preceding the feast. The Nativity Feast on September 8th was celebrated with religious fervor at The Most Holy Redeemers Church, Derebail at 7:30 AM.
The Eucharistic Celebration was offered by Rev Fr Jesudas D'Costa, Rev Fr Austin Peres, Rev Fr Gerald Pinto, and Fr. Walter Pinto. In his homily, Fr Jesudas explained the virtues of Mary as our Mother, the sacrifices she made as the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, and how she is a perfect role model for all women and especially for mothers to emulate. He also said that it is a festival of family.
The New Corn, which was brought in by the Gurkars in a procession was then blessed and distributed. The Parish Priest, Fr Austin requested the Gurkars who are the leaders to distribute the New Corn to all the parishioners. The melodious choir by the youth added to the solemnity of the ceremony. Rev Fr Austin Peres thanked everyone who helped in making the ceremony and 9-day novena successful. Blessed candles were distributed to the sponsors.
The Mass ended with the distribution of sugar cane to all the parishioners. It was not just the flowers and the sugarcane that made things appear colourful and bright on this day, it was also the gathering of the entire parish as one family that added to the celebration of this Family Feast.
