Fr. Gratian takes charge as Parish Priest: Derebail and Kuppepadav Parishioners join in celebration

It was indeed an act of appreciation and gratitude when the parishioners of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail gathered in large numbers to accompany Fr.Gratian Alvares, former Resident Priest, Derebail to his new parish. The journey from Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail to Immaculate Heart of  Mary Church, Kuppepadav began at 2:30 pm with a short prayer service conducted by Rev. Fr.Austin Peres, at Derebail church. Derebail parishioners along with Fr. Gratian, Fr. Austin and Fr. Gerald reached Kuppepadav Parish at 4:00 pm.

Fr.Gratian was given a floral welcome on arrival by Fr. Anil Lobo, followed by members of Parish Pastoral Council, Kuppepadav. The handing over ceremony commenced with a prayer service. Fr. Gratian read and reflected on the Word of God.  Fr. Anil Lobo then handed over the stole and the tabernacle keys to Fr. Gratian Alvares. A formal programme was organized by the parish. Fr. Anil Lobo gave the welcome address, Mr Joseph Moras Vice President Parish Pastoral Council, briefed about the history of the Church. Fr. Austin Peres spoke a few words in appreciation of Fr. Gratian. Fr. Gratian Alvares expressed his gratitude and assured his new parishioners the best of his services. Mrs Lona, Parish Pastoral Council secretary, Kuppepadav gave the vote of thanks. Fr. Gerald Pinto, Resident priest Derebail, Sr.Rekha Convent superior Kuppepadav, Mrs Sheela Dsouza Vice-president Parish Pastoral Council, Derebail were the other dignitaries on the Dais.

Refreshments were served at the end of the programme. 

Around 80 parishioners, accompanied Fr. Gratian to Kuppepadav Parish.
