Derebail Parish Celebrates the Solemnity of Mother Mary and the Arrival of New Year

To honour Mother Mary and express gratitude to the Lord for the blessings bestowed throughout the year, the parishioners of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail, gathered on the church grounds for Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at 7.00 p.m. The service was led by Rev. Fr. Santosh Rodrigues, Pastoral Director, Govlik Kendra , Bajjodi

The adoration was followed by a Festal Mass at 7.30 p.m. Rev. Fr. Santosh Rodrigues was the main celebrant. He was joined by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis, and Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Nelson Peris, as co-celebrants.

In his homily, Fr. Santosh urged the faithful to begin the journey of the New Year in the presence of Mother Mary through prayer. He highlighted that women are among the finest creations of God, playing diverse and significant roles in the family and society, with Mother Mary being the perfect role model. He concluded by emphasizing Mary’s humility and her complete acceptance of God’s will, encouraging the faithful to follow her example and choose what is pleasing to God.

At the end of the Mass, the Vice President, Secretary, Coordinator of all Pastoral Commissions, members of the Finance Committee and all the new members of Parish Pastoral Committee took their oath of office.

At the conclusion of the Eucharistic celebration, donors and sponsors were honoured with the Murdom candle. The melodious hymns rendered by the youth choir enhanced the devotion and solemnity of the celebration.

Refreshments were served after the Mass. The New Year began on a joyful note as parishioners exchanged greetings and good wishes.
