Bible Classes at Derebail Parish

Bible classes commenced at Derebail Parish on Tuesday, 10th June at 6:00 p.m. The inauguration was marked by a simple yet meaningful ceremony in the presence of Professor Antony Pinto the resource person, Fr Nelson (the Associate Parish Priest), Mrs Sheela (Vice President), Mr Anil Patrao (Coordinator of the 21 Pastoral Commissions), Mrs Helen (Animator of the Bible Commission), the Parish Priest Fr Joseph Martis, and several enthusiastic participants.
The session began with an opening prayer, followed by a warm welcome address by Fr Joseph Martis. He introduced the resource person, Fr Antony Pinto, Professor of Scripture at St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangaluru.
In his inaugural lecture, Fr Pinto shared that he would continue the syllabus introduced last year by Fr Vincent Sequeira. This year, the focus will be on the Gospels of Mark and John. He gave a clear and engaging explanation of the Synoptic Gospels and provided a brief history of the origin of the Gospels. He also outlined the various stages in the development of the Gospel writings.
The classes were insightful, well-structured, and easy to understand. Participants expressed great appreciation for the professor’s teaching style and methodology.
The Bible classes will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for the next few weeks.
