Young Leadership Takes Form at Derebail Parish: YSD-ICYM Oath Taking Ceremony

The Oath Taking Ceremony of the newly elected YSD–ICYM Core Committee was held on 31st May 2026 during the 9:00 a.m. Holy Mass at Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail. In the presence of the congregation and at the altar, all newly elected office bearers solemnly took their oath of commitment and service for the year 2026–2027.

Following the Holy Mass, a formal gathering and celebration were held to mark the occasion. The programme was graced by:

* Rev. Fr. Nelson Peris, Assistant Parish Priest
* Mr. Denzil Fernandes, Church Vice President
* Ms.Clottilda Dsouza,Church Secretary
* Mr. Denzil Pinto, Youth Commission Representative

The programme commenced with a prayer service led by the Liturgy Secretary. 
The Welcome Address was delivered by Evangel Menezes. Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis addressed the gathering and shared a few valuable insights, encouraging the youth to remain active and dedicated in their faith journey and parish activities.

This was followed by the presentation of the YSD–ICYM Annual Report for the year 2025–2026 by Lester Lobo, highlighting the various activities, achievements, and initiatives undertaken during the previous term. 
The financial report was then presented by the outgoing Treasurer, Lisha who gave a detailed account of the income and expenditure for the year. 

Rev. Fr. Nelson Peris then addressed the gathering and emphasized three important aspects for effective youth leadership: take active part in events, importance of involvement and love towards the community with commitment. His message encouraged the youth leaders to actively participate in parish life and carry out their responsibilities with dedication and enthusiasm.

A token of gratitude was presented to the outgoing office bearers in appreciation of their dedicated service and contribution to the parish youth movement during the year 2025–2026.The records and responsibilities were formally handed over to the newly elected office bearers.

The programme was efficiently compered by Jeanna pereira.    
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Deona Jessica Dsouza, who expressed gratitude to the clergy, dignitaries, outgoing and incoming office bearers, volunteers, and all members who contributed to the success of the programme.

 Fun-filled games and interactive activities were conducted by Sonal Veigas, Astra martis and Feona periera creating a joyful and engaging atmosphere for all present.
The celebration concluded with lunch. A total of 20 members were present for the programme. The event served as a meaningful occasion to acknowledge the contributions of the outgoing committee and officially welcome the new leadership team for the year 2026–2027.
