Celebration of Pavsa Gammath by Women's Association, Derebail Church

On Saturday, 1st August 2026, the members of the Women's Association, Derebail Church gathered for their monthly meeting and Pavsa Gammath celebration at the Basement Hall of Derebail Church at 6:00 PM after the Eucharistic celebration.

The meeting was followed by the Pavsa Gammath celebration, which commenced with a Prayer Hymn.

Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis- Spiritual Director & Parish Priest   Rev. Fr. Steevan Nelson Peris - Assistant Parish Priest , Rev. Bro. Prajwal and Rev.Bro. Ashwin,  Mr. Denzil Fernandes- Vice President, Parish Pastoral Parishad , Mrs. Clotilda D'Souza - Secretary, Parish Pastoral Parishad , Mrs. Pramila Furtado - Parish Commissions Coordinator and 
Mr. Prinson - Sacristan were the guests of honour.

Mrs. Dora Sequeira,  President of the Womens Association, welcomed the august gathering. Mrs. Clotilda D'Souza, member of the association, gave an introductory speech on the rainy season and related traditional food.

Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis delivered an inspiring message with Bible quotes from Prophet Isaiah and the parable of Jesus multiplying 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish to feed 5000 people. He appreciated and praised the members and leaders of the Womens Association for organizing the wonderful event and said women should  always laugh.

The members who made 22 delicious traditional dishes prepared by the were felicitated. Members celebrating their birthdays in August 2026 were also felicitated.

The members entertained the audience with various games.  Rev.Fr.  Steevan Nelson Peris distributed prizes to the winners.

Mrs. Juliana Coelho, Secretary, proposed the Vote of Thanks.
  
Rev. Fr. Steevan Nelson Peris concluded the programme  with prayers, invoking blessings on the food and on all members.

Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis inaugurated  the delicacies. The food was enjoyed by all, making the celebration a grand success.

A total of 65 persons attended the program.  

The programme was well compered by Mrs. Pramila Furtado.
