CONFRATERNITY SUNDAY 2026

Derebail Parish observed Confraternity Sunday on 25th October 2026 with a solemn Eucharistic Celebration at 4:30 p.m. The Holy Mass was led by the main celebrant, Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza, Parish Priest of Allipade, along with Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis, Parish Priest of Derebail, and Rev. Fr. Steevan Nelson Peris, Associate Parish Priest of Derebail.

During the celebration, Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza delivered the homily, reflecting on the message of love, peace, and unity taught by Jesus. He spoke about how Jesus came into the world to save and protect us, to live among us, and to spread goodness and love. Though Jesus was crucified on the cross, He became our Saviour through His sacrifice and continues to forgive and love us. Through the Eucharist, we are reminded of His sacrifice and the gift of His Body and Blood.

Fr. Robert highlighted that the day’s Gospel calls us to love our neighbour with all our heart, mind, and soul. He reminded the faithful that this commandment is at the heart of Christian life and is precisely what the Eucharist teaches us—to live with love, forgiveness, compassion, and unity towards one another.

Following the Holy Mass, a solemn Eucharistic Procession began at the church entrance and proceeded towards Konchady Katte, before returning to the church. Parishioners, dressed in white and off-white attire, participated with reverence and devotion, carrying candles and joining in the singing of hymns. The procession beautifully expressed the faith, unity, and devotion of the parish community.

The celebration concluded with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, accompanied by melodious hymns rendered by the choir, creating a prayerful and spiritually enriching atmosphere.

In his closing remarks, Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza, the parishioners, parish associations, and the youth of Derebail for their active and enthusiastic participation in making the Confraternity Sunday celebration meaningful and spiritually enriching.
