Seminar on Liturgy - 27 July 2014 Back

Liturgy being an important part of the Catholic faith, Fr. Peter D’souza our parish Priest felt the importance of giving the right perspective on this aspect to the parishioners.  Fr. Vijay Machado, Director of Mangala Jyothi was invited to conduct the seminar on the 27th of July 2014 at the Parish Main Hall.

The active participation of over 200 parishioners in the seminar was a proof of their interest in having a lively and meaningful liturgy. Fr Victor gave a detailed explanation on how the sacraments are part of the liturgy and role of the priest and the laity in it.

Speaking about the Mass, he explained that it has two parts - first The Liturgy of the Word and second the Liturgy of Eucharist.  Training was imparted on how to introduce the faithful to the mass of the day, how to do the readings, reciting or singing of the psalms,  guidelines and the order to be maintained while reading the prayer of the faithful or general intercessions and the type of  hymns to be chosen by the choir.

The participants were then divided into groups and given time to practice on the training that was imparted.  The participants were also given time to present what they had acquired during the seminar.  It was indeed an enlightening secession on the liturgy which will assist the parishioners to celebrate the Mass in a more meaningful and spiritual manner.

The seminar concluded with the vote of thanks given by Mr. Edward Coelho, the Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council.
