Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail Celebrates Catechism Day

Jesus said, " Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as thee". Matthew 19.14

Catechism day was celebrated on Sunday 24th February at Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail with a lot of zeal. The Eucharistic mass was celebrated at 09:15 AM by Rev Fr Austin Peter Peres. The liturgy was led by the children and all took active part in the Eucharistic banquet. In his homily Fr Austin said Christians should love their enemies as Jesus taught and did.

After the mass the cultural programme was organised in the Parish Hall at 04:30 PM. Refreshments were served to all the children. The programme was presided over by Rev Fr Austin Peres Parish Priest, Rev Fr. Gratian Alvares Residential Priest , Very Rev Joel Pais Vicar General of the diocese of Baroda as Chief Guest, Mr. Edward Coelho, Vice President of Derebail Parish Council, and Mrs. Lizzie Fernandes, Secretary of Derebail Parish Council.The cultural performance included the exhibition of talents from the students of Std 1st to YCS based on Christian devotion. The stage programme was compered by Payal Lobo. Miss Delina Dsouza shared her experience of Ycs Journey. Mr. Gaulbert Pais on behalf of teachers shared the beautiful experience of teaching Sunday catechism to the children. Prizes were given away to the students who maintained 100 percent attendance and toppers in the catechism exam. The catechism teachers were also given gifts as a token of appreciation. The programme ended by vote of thanks proposed by Edward Coelho.
