Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail institutes Year of Saint Joesph and Amoris Laetitia Family

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Pope Pius IX’s declaration of St Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church,  Pope Francis has proclaimed a " Year of Saint Joseph" from 8 December 2020 to 8 December 2021.
In a new Apostolic Letter entitled Patris corde (“With a Father’s Heart”), recalls the role played by ordinary people during the Pandemic i.e. the Covid 19 crisis. The Pandemic according to Pope has helped us realize the importance of ordinary people who though away from limelight have shown patience and exhibited tremendous hope. In this they resemble Saint Joseph who  played a vital part at the crossroads of the Old and New Testament where he paved the path for Jesus's entry into his home and into the lives of all those who believed in Jesus. Yet he often goes unnoticed and his presence hidden.
Besides, Pope Francis also exclaimed the crucial part that 'family' has played as a domestic church during the Pandemic. Inorder to highlight the importance of family love and to mark the fifth anniversary of the publication of the Apostolic Exhortation Amoris laetitia, on the joy and beauty of familial love, Pope Francis will inaugurate the Year “Amoris Laetitia Family,” which will conclude on 26 June 2022 on the occasion of the X World Meeting of Families in Rome.
In honour and solidarity with these two special beginnings of the Saint Joseph year and the Amoris Laetitia Family,  the parish priest Rev. Fr. Austen Peres along with the Resident Priest, Rev. Fr. Gerald Pinto; Parish Vice President Mrs. Sheela D'Souza, Parish Secretary Mr. Gaulbert and other dignitaries symbolically inaugrated the year at Derebail parish on January 17, 2021 at 7 A.M. mass.
