EPHPHATHA' THE BIBLE CAMP - 2018 Back

Christian Life Community (CLC) organised a Bible Camp, titled ‘Ephphatha’ under the theme ‘Be Opened towards Jesus’ for the children of Derebail Parish from classes 4-9 on 18th and 19th October 2018.

The camp commenced at 9.00 AM by invoking God’s blessings, followed by Inauguration. Mr. Gerald Concessao, Senior CLC President welcomed the gathering.

Fr. Austin Peres, Parish Priest, Fr. Gratian Alvares, Residential Priest, Mr. Edward Coelho and Mrs. Lizzie Fernandes, Vice president and Secretary of Parish council, along with Mr. Gaulbert Pais, were guests of honour for the Inaugural ceremony. Mr. Victor Miranda and Fr. Maxim Dsouza were the resource persons for the camp. Fr. Gratian Alvares inaugurated the Bible camp.

The camp took off with ice breaking, followed by sing along, games. Sessions were held on Health and Hygiene by Mr.Victor Miranda and on Rosary and Reflection on Luminous Mysteries by Fr. Gratian Alvares. Ms. Ashal riya lobo a national level karate  player of class 10 studying at St.Agnes high school mangaluru taught the children about self- defence techniques. Mr. Gaulbert later conducted treasure hunt for the children.

Second day resumed with prayer, followed by a session on How to read and reflect on Bible by Fr. Maxim D’souza. The Camp continued with action songs and practice session for Bible Skit presentation. Groups were formed and topics were allotted on Parables and Miracles from the Bible. Group performances were judged by Mrs. Felcy Lobo, Mrs. Dora D’cunha and Mr. Victor Correa. Mass was followed with Adoration in the Church. The Camp ended with camp fire followed by Prize distribution for groups along with participation certificates for campers.

The camp was co-ordinated by Mr. Denzil E. Pinto and Deral D’almeida. Assistance was provided by Mr. Gaulbert Pais and voluntarily by a few YCS Members for the camp. Mr. Alwyn Menezes was felicitated for having sponsored a day's lunch for the camp. Lunch and Refreshments were served during the camp along with snacks after camp fire. A total of 72 children from the Parish participated in the camp. The curtains were drawn on the camp with baila dance.

It was indeed a splendid opportunity for the students of the parish to know more about the Bible, get closer to God and enhance their Faith.
