Women's Day Celebration 2022

The Stree Sanghatan  ( Women's Association) of Derebail Parish celebrated Women's Day on 5th March 2022. Although International Women's Day is globally celebrated on the 8th of March, the members of the Women's Association wanted to have maximum participants, therefore they chose to celebrate it on Saturday 5th March, 2022.
The celebration began with a solemn Thanksgiving mass at 5 PM. 

The members then clicked a group picture together and exchanged greetings of Women's Day. At 6.45 PM the members assembled together at the Parish Meeting hall for a small get together. 

The dignitaries Parish Priest Rev.Fr. Austin Peter Peres, Resident Priest Rev.Fr.Gerry Pinto, Vice President of PPC Mrs.Sheela Dsouza, Secretary of PPC Mr. Gaulbert Pais, Coordinator of 21 commissions Mr.Edward Coelho, and Headmistress of St.Anns School Kuntikan Sr. Valsa graced the occasion.

Mrs. Celine Correa, President of the Women's Association welcomed the gathering. The dignitaries formally inaugurated the programme with the lighting of the lamp. This was followed by a short prayer service led by Mrs.Molly Suares and others. 

Mrs. Benedicta Dcunha , Secretary, Women's Association presented the report in front of the members. Mrs Juliet Fernandes then read a poem that she had composed on the occasion of Women's Day.
Mrs. Mercy Menezes spoke on the importance of the day. She also dwelt on the historical significance of the day. The Parish Priest Rev.Fr.Austin Peres appreciated the dynamic participation of the women in the parish in all activities. He appreciated the unity among th women of the parish and stated that women are capable of achieving any goal in life.
Mrs. Sheela D'Souza, the Vice President of PPC also addressed the gathering.

This was followed by a short entertainment programme where the members of the association performed a dance, presented a kawali, sang a song and action song, and enacted a skit. 

The resident priest Fr. Gerald Pinto said Grace befor meals. Mrs. Juliana Coelho rendered the Vote of thanks
