Altar Boys and Legion of Mary - Annual Day 2019

The Catholic Church creates various associations within its boundaries in order to increase the knowledge and interest of the little children in Jesus and his church. The Legion of Mother Mary and Altar boys are two important organizations where children get closer to the church, prayer and God. A special day August 18th was designated as a day of Celebration for these two dynamic organizations. The entire liturgy of the 09:15  AM mass was led by the members of Legion of Mary and Altar Boys.

After the Eucharistic celebration a short programme was held. The programme started sharp at 10:30 AM. Jeana Maria Pereira compered the programme. The programme began with an invocation in the form of a prayer dance led by Legion of Mary Tia and Evangeline. Mary Shainal Pinto, President of Legion of Mary welcomed the gathering. Fr. Austin Peres, Fr Gratian Alvare, Sr. Anna Maria, Mr Edward Coelho; Mrs Lizzy Fernandes and the animators were present at the programme. The annual report was read by Joylin Miranda for Legion of Mary And Aurin Dcosta for Altar Boys.Thereafter the members of Legion of Mary sang two hymns. A skit followed by the Legion of Mary. The audience was then enthralled with a dance performance by the Legion of Mary.

Fr. Gratian then addressed the gathering. He asked the kids to take leadership when they are small as it would help them as  they grow . A good society is built on the shoulders of able leaders said Fr.Gratian.

The skit by the Altar boys tickled everyone to laughter. A dance was then rendered by the members of the Legion of Mary. The altar boys also performed a dance. The prizes for games were distributed by Fr.Austin,  Mr Edward and Mrs Lizzy Fernandes. Prince loy Serrao and Christon Menezes were awarded as the Best outgoing altar boys. Mr. Edward Coelho's speech focussed St. John Berchmans Patron of Altar boys. He asked altar boys to live like him and love Jesus more and be a good priest. The members of Legion of Mary were also advised on the same lines. Mrs.Lizzi Fernandez addressed the children and asked altar boys to serve the church always and the same for Legion of Mary. Rev Fr. Austin wished both the associations and advised them to be emulators of their patron saints. He stressed the importance of discipline. He requested the parents not to pressurize children. He promised a days picnic for these enthusiastic children.

He thanked and congratulated Mrs. Pramila, Mrs. Dora and Mrs Benny for their guidance and for training children. He requested atleast 2 altar boys to be present for all mass. Aiden Dcosta gave the Vote of Thanks. A hymn was sung at the end of the programme.
