Orphanage Visit by Chowki Ward Back

Orphanage Visit by Chowki Ward

As part of its commitment to social outreach and community service, Chowki Ward organized a visit to The Mercy Balakiya Nilaya, Paneer, on 12 July 2026. Under the leadership of Gurkar Mr. Ronald Rodrigues, the ward representatives, and all ward members, a total of 30 members enthusiastically participated in this meaningful and heartwarming initiative.

The group departed from Marian Solace at 3:30 PM in their respective vehicles and arrived at the orphanage at 4:15 PM. The visit commenced with a prayer service (Zammath) conducted in both Konkani and Kannada, seeking God's blessings upon the children, staff, and all those gathered.

The prayer service was led by Ms. Preethi Rodrigues. The Bible readings were proclaimed by Ms. Nisha D'Souza and Mr. Kishore Cutinha, while Mr. Ronald Rodrigues delivered a reflection on the Scripture reading. All ward members, along with the children, actively participated in the prayer service, making it a spiritually enriching experience for everyone present.

Following the prayer, a variety of engaging activities were organized for the children. Mrs. Nisha D'Souza and Mrs. Preethi Rodrigues conducted fun-filled sports games that brought excitement and joy to the participants. Mr. Kishore Cutinha led an interactive quiz competition, encouraging the children to learn, think, and participate with great enthusiasm. The children actively took part in all the activities, displaying remarkable energy, confidence, and happiness throughout the programme.

To appreciate their participation and achievements, prizes were distributed to the winners. As a gesture of love and support, the ward members also presented financial assistance collected through the generous contributions of the parishioners of Chowki Ward. This contribution was handed over to support the welfare and educational needs of the children residing at the orphanage.

The visit provided an opportunity not only to share material support but also to spend quality time with the children, creating moments of joy, encouragement, and companionship. The smiles on the children's faces made the visit truly memorable and rewarding for everyone present.

The programme concluded with tea and snacks served to all. The ward members expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the management, staff, and children of The Mercy Balakiya Nilaya for their warm welcome and hospitality. The group then returned home safely, carrying with them cherished memories, a sense of fulfillment, and the joy of having made a positive difference in the lives of the children.
