Kottara Ward Members Exemplify Kindness and Love: A Visit to Karunamayee Trust

Kottara Ward members visited the Karunamayee Trust, an old age home located at Nandigudda, Mangalore on Sunday, 23rd July at 3:30 PM. The trust houses 18 men, mostly senior citizens. This Trust was establised in the year 2013 and will soon be completing a decade in August this year.

 The Ward members assembled at the residence of the Gurkar and then boarded the bus that was specially arranged due to the good response received for this visit. Upon reaching the venue, the inmates were all ready and eagerly waiting in anticipation of the visitors.The interaction began with a Prayer Song sung by the Ward members, followed by an interactive game for the inmates who played with all energy and enthusiasm. Each one was awarded a small gift upon their elimination. Kottara Ward is famous for its talent and two well known stage actors of the ward presented a Comedy skit that had the audience in splits.

Mr.  Elias Coelho and his spouse, Mrs. Sylvia Dsouza, the Trustees then shared their story on how they came to start this Trust and it was wonderful to listen to their journey of faith and service based on which this Trust is functioning.

The inmates were then engaged on a round of guessing the riddles followed by an action song by the little kids from the Ward. The senior of the Ward then presented each inmate with a gift consisting a T-Shirt and Shorts as requested by the Trustees. Refreshments were then served to all gathered and it was time to engage and converse with them. The visit concluded with a Thank You note. 

In all, this was a much awaited visit and done after a long time. There was happiness and joy among the inmates as well as with the ward members who eagerly participated in the monthly service activity.
