Church Ward Celebrates Monthi Fest, 2023

The members of the Church Ward celebrated 'Monthi Fest' (Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary) on 17h September, 2023 at the residencr of Mr.Francis and Mrs.Doris Concessao. The members of the ward gathered at the venue by 6.30 pm and began the event by invoking God's blessings with a prayer song lead by Mr. Reuben Machado and team. Mrs. Jane Machado, the 'Gurkaar' of the ward, welcomed the gathering, Fr. Joseph Martis, Parish Priest, Fr. Kevin D’souza, Assistant Parish Priest, Mrs.
Sheela D’souza- Vice President, Mr. Denzil Pinto – Secretary, and Mr. Anil Patrao – 21
Commission Coordinator were also present.
It was indeed a proud moment for all the ward members as the dynamic personality Mr.Anthony Mariappa, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Mangalore division, Mangalore, D.K district was honored at this event for his immense contribution in his field. “We will always have a better tomorrow” these were the words of motivation that Mr. Anthony always heard from his mother Mrs.Pauline Mariappa. He also motivated the the youth “to not give up in life and keep on trying
till you succeed” Mr. Anthony Mariappa along with his family were felicitated by Fr. Joseph Martis and Fr. Kevin D’souza. Following this Fr. Joseph Martis, congratulated Mr. Anthony Mariappa and their family for their immense hard work and how they serve as an example to others in the society. Fr. Martis also spoke about the importance of Ward gatherings, as it brings
people together. “Church ward is the closest to the Church and people in this ward are always very active in Church activities”
A comedy skit titled “Bindas Caterers" was presented by Mrs.Clara, Mrs. Florine and Mrs. Sabitha.” Mangalur Shera” a song composed by Mr. Charles D’cunha which speaks about the cultural heritage of konkani was sung by Ward members. The annual report was read out by Mrs. Florine Figreda. A scintillating dance performance by Ethel D’souza was presented. Duo musicians, Mr.Reuben and Mr.Richard Machado played a beautiful track “Ajeeb dastan” on saxophone and keyboard. Bollywood dance was done by Mrs. Sabitha fernandes. “Mother of Mine” a soulful
song was sung by Mrs.Jane Machado, followed by a melodious flute performance of the song “Sakkad sangatha Melyan” accompanied by Reuben Machado on Guitar. A special Bollywood retro mashup was performed by Mr. Francis Concessao and family. Mrs Caroline entertained everyone with amazing Spot games. Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Ronald Sequeira.
The highlight of the evening was the fellowship meal that all the ward members had together along with the dignitaries, Mr. Denzil Pinto and Mr. Anil Patrao who prayed the grace before meals. Each delicacy that was served during the meal was cooked by individual members of the ward. This sumptuous meal was served in the traditional banana meals. The program was
