Children's and Youth SCC Meeting at Kottara Ward

The children and youth of Kottara Ward organized their first Small Christian Community meeting at the residence of Lizzy Dsilva on 24th May 2026 at 4:30 pm. A total of 16 children and youth attended, the youngest being 3 years old.

The gathering was welcomed by the Gurkar  Mr Mike D'silva, who took this opportunity to explain the significance of the 7 steps method adopted for the SCC meeting. He  elaborated on how these steps can be used in the daily prayer by the children, including doing small act of service everyday at home. 

Hansel Castelino was the MC and Pearl Lobo lead the 7 steps method of prayers. Joanna Castelino invited the Lord amidst the gathering. The Bible reading was taken from the Gospel of John, Chapter 14, verses 15 to 22. The readings were read by Relisha Lobo and Vivian Pinto. The children picked verse 18, 'You will not be left as orphans' as verse  for the month. 

Lavisha Castelino and Sr. Stephanie who is on a visit from Malawi in  Africa conducted a couple of games. 

Renisha Lobo proposed the vote of thanks. 

Fr Steevan Nelson Peris, appreciated the youth for their participation and encouraged them to get involved and take leadership whenever opportunities come their way.  

As a service activity, the children and Youth  decided to attend the Rosary on Friday, the 29th of May at 5:30 pm at the Church Grotto. 

They also decided to attend the Ward meeting with the adults in June and have an exclusive Children and Youth meeting in the month of August. 

Most of the children participated in the spontaneous prayers followed by a hymn to the Holy Spirit. The meeting concluded with snacks and cool drinks served by the hosts.
