Celebration of India's 75th Year of Independence at Kapikad-Kotekani Junction

It was indeed a moment of pride when the members of Kapikad ward , Derebail Parish, got together with the members of Akhila Bharatha Aiyappa Seva Sangha, Daddalkad, to celebrate India's 75th Independence on the 15th of August, 2022

The Gurkar of Kapikad Ward Mr.Edward Coelho welcomed the gathering, who were locals belonging to different caste, creed and religion. After welcoming the gathering, a hymn to our mother land - Vande Matharam was sung by everyone present.

Mr. Chennappa Salian, Retired Postman of Indian Post and Telegraph Department was the Chief Guest of the day. Mr. Kunhiraman, The President of Akhila Bharatha Aiyappa Seva Sangha ®, Mr.Edward Coelho, Mrs. Jalaja, Businesswoman and Mr.Alwyn D Souza, Businessman were the Guests of Honor. The Gurkar of Kapikad Ward introduced the Chief Guest and continued the process of Command, and requested the chief guest Mr.Chennappa Salian to hoist the Tricoloured National Flag. Mr.Chennappa Salian hoisted the National Flag and the gathering honoured the unfurled Flag by saluting and singing the National Anthem.

Once the formal programme came to an end a few games and Q
a quiz was conducted.

Later on Mrs.Terry Pais, addressed the gathering and Mrs.Ravikala sang a Patriotic song beautifully. After which prizes were distributed to the winners of the games and quiz by the chief guest and the guests of honour.

The Chief Guest addressed the gathering by saying that people like him are brought up by likeminded people without differentiating in caste, creed and religion. He further stated that we can live happily in our locality and society by keeping our environment clean and by helping the ones in need, our behaviour towards them etc. The Guest of Honour  Mr.Chennappa(83years) was felicitated for his simplicity, humility and honesty during his service.

Mrs. Jalaja in her remarks remembered the life style, love and affection of people in the locality and Society. Mr Alwyn Dsouza proposed the vote of thanks. Mr.Sylvester D’Cunha was the Master of Ceremony for the day. High Tea was served to everyone present. It was indeed a great celebration of the Platinum Year of Independent India; people enjoyed the celebration held at the open-air area that made them participate actively.
