Walking in Faith: Lenten Pilgrimage by Derebail Parishioners

The parishioners of Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail set out on a Lenten pilgrimage on 19th March 2026 to St Jude Church Pakshikere, St Anthony's Shrine Manjarpalke, and St. Lawrence Church Karkal.

The day began with the parishioners assembling at Derebail church premises at 7:45 AM for a short prayer, invoking God’s blessings for a safe and meaningful journey. At 8:00 AM, they commenced their pilgrimage, travelling in three buses.

Upon arrival at Pakshikere Church, the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Anil
Alfred Dsouza, warmly welcomed the Derebail parishioners and briefly shared the history of the parish. This was followed by a short Way of the Cross led by Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis. Breakfast was then served to all.

The next destination was the beautiful and newly established St Antony's church at Manjarpalke, where Holy Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis and Rev. Fr. Steevan Nelson Peris. The spiritual experience continued with fellowship over lunch, which was arranged at Belman Church. Parishioners later spent time together playing housie.

In the evening, the group proceeded to St. Lawrence Church, Karkal. Here, the parishioners prayerfully recited the Divine Mercy Chaplet and participated in the Veneration of the Blessed Sacrament, deepening their Lenten devotion.

Tea and biscuits were served before the parishioners began their return journey to Derebail, carrying with them a sense of spiritual fulfilment and community bonding.
