The Sacrament Of First Holy Communion Back

The Holy Eucharist is the most important of the seven sacraments because, in this and in no other sacrament, we receive the very body and blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ. Innumerable, precious graces come to us through the reception of Holy Communion.

The First Holy Communion ceremony for 21 little children of the Parish was held on the 3rd of May 2015 during the 09:15 AM mass. After a lot of preparation to receive Jesus in their hearts the little children looked excited and happy.  Rev Fr Peter Dsouza, the Parish Priest was the Main Celebrant of the mass; the co-celebrants were Rev. Fr.  Walter D’souza, the Parish Priest of Shakthinagar, Rev.Fr. Walter Pinto and Rev.Fr. Vinod Lobo, the Assistant Parish Priest.

A mime was presented by the youth of the Parish highlighting how Jesus sacrificed his life on the cross and became bread and wine for the young communicants. A slideshow followed emphasizing the role of communion and it’s influence on the lives of those who receive it. Rev.Fr.Vinod Lobo in his homily gave a brief description on the Sacrament of Communion and asked the little ones to always receive Jesus in the form of Communion in a happy and a love filled heart for Jesus.

Watching these kids clad in pure white clothing escorted by their parents to receive their First Holy Communion was indeed a feast to the eye and a source of joy for the heart.

After the Eucharist, all the children who received First Holy Communion sang a hymn of thanksgiving. The children were presented with a scapular and a certificate as a remembrance of their First Holy Communion Day.
