The Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God on New Year's Eve

In order to honour Mother Mary and offer gratitude to the Lord for the blessings showered throughout the past year, the parishioners of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail assembled at the Church grounds for Adoration and Benediction of Blessed Sacrament at 7.00 PM. The adoration was lead initially by Asst. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Kevin D'souza and later by the Parish Priest Fr. Joseph Martis.

The adoration was followed by a Festal Mass at 7.30 PM. Fr. Kevin D'Souza was the main celebrant and Fr. Joseph Martis was the concelebrant.

In his homily, Fr. Joseph mentioned about the Pope declaring the year 2025 as the Jubilee Year. He gave three instances where the personalities showed great determination despite losing their ability but rebuilt themselves and never lost hope. He called upon people to have hope and faith.He stressed that hope and faith never saddens anyone and asked to take cue from Mother Mary who showed utmost faith on God. He ended the sermon and called upon to follow three pointers. To be humble, to speak good about others and spread positive vibes with positive thinking and finally to give hope to others.

At the end of the Eucharistic celebration sponsors were honoured with the Murdom candle for their generous contribution towards the expenses of the occasion. The melodious voices of the Youth Choir raised the devotion of the celebration.
Refreshments were served after the mass.
The New Year began with jubilation as the parishioners exchanged greetings.
