Sunday Catechism Inaugurated at Derebail Church

The Sunday Catechism academic Year was formally inaugurated at Derebail Church on Sunday, 2nd June at 9.00 in the morning. The programme began with a procession of all the catechism teachers and coordinators, and a few children along with their parents. The initial rites directed by the Diocesan Catechetical Centre were followed in a creative manner. The Parish Priest Fr Joseph Martis, distributed copies of the Holy Bible to the student representatives. He then Offered Holy Mass and during the homily underscored the significance of Sunday Catechism and invited the parents to take their responsibility seriously in the faith formation programme of their children and also insisted that children should be present on time and regular for the Sunday Catechism classes. After the Creed, he called out the names of the Catechism teachers and took promise from that they would be faithful to their mission as catechism teachers and do their best to be good teachers and role models. The children participated actively in the progarmme. Fr Kevin the Associate Parish Priest animated the children and all the activities. Pramila teacher compered the programme. Mrs Helen Menezes the Coordinator of the Catechism classes prepared well the entire programme. Mrs Sheela D’Souza, the Parish Vice President, Mr Denzil Pinto Secretary, Mr Anil Patrao, Coordinator of the 21 Commissions participated actively in the programme. It was a happy and joyful moment to see the children back from their summer holidays and actively participate in the Holy Mass. A large number of parents were present for the initial rite and Holy Mass.
