Mission Sunday: A day to be merciful like the Father Back

World Mission Day is celebrated every year in every country wherever there are Catholics committed to building a better world for all of God's people, a world where everyone has all they need to live a dignified and fulfilling life. It is the day on which we reflect on the urgency to proclaim the Gospel in our times. Mission Sunday, organized by the Society for Propagation of the Faith, is a day set aside for Catholics worldwide to recommit themselves to the Church's missionary activity through prayer and sacrifice. Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail Church observed this day on the 21st and 22nd of November, 2015.

Committed to the goal of contributing to the spreading of the Word of the Lord, the young and not so old members of the parish involved themselves. The altar boys sold tickets which every parishioner bought willfully. Many parishioners contributed different items for the auction that was to be held on the 21st and 22nd of November. Vegetables, soft toys, show pieces etc were items that were auctioned in the church premise. Over 80 items were sold during the auction. Besides, there were food stalls where a lot of eateries were sold. 

Each Catholic is called to live a life of selflessness. The Mission Sunday is one such day on which each Catholic can contribute in his own little way to the Propagation of the Faith. The Pope in his Mission Sunday Message, 2015 said , “I appeal in particular to young people, who are capable of courageous witness and generous deeds, even when these are countercultural: Do not allow others to rob you of the ideal of a true mission, of following Jesus through the total gift of yourself.” Indeed the Parishioners of Most Holy Redeemer Church have lived up to the expectation of the Pope.
