Mission Sunday 2026

Mission Sunday is an occasion when Catholics reflect on one of the fundamental values of the Church: the call to give, share, and serve others with love and compassion. Inspired by this year’s theme, “Missionaries of Hope Among the Peoples,” the parishioners of Most Holy Redeemer Church came together to celebrate Mission Sunday on 17 and 18 October 2026. The celebration aimed to support missionary territories where the Church is young or faces challenges, while fostering a spirit of generosity, unity, and service among the parish community.
The preparations for the celebration began on Saturday, 17 October 2026, with parishioners gathering in their homes and at the parish hall to prepare a variety of delicious food items. Members of various parish organizations and wards enthusiastically contributed to the arrangements by setting up food, beverage, and game stalls within the church premises. Each stall reflected the dedication, teamwork, and collective effort of the parishioners, who worked together to make the celebration enjoyable and meaningful for everyone.
The Mission Sunday celebrations commenced after the 5:00 p.m. Holy Mass on Saturday, 17 October 2026. The festive atmosphere continued with equal enthusiasm and zeal on Sunday, 18 October, following the morning Masses. Throughout both days, the food and beverage counters attracted parishioners and provided opportunities for fellowship, interaction, and the strengthening of community bonds. The lucky draw for a rooster, its auction, and the auction of other items added excitement to the celebrations and kept the church premises lively and vibrant.
The celebration was a beautiful expression of the parish community’s faith, unity, and missionary commitment. Through their generous contributions, active participation, and collaborative efforts, the parishioners demonstrated that the mission of the Church extends beyond its boundaries through acts of sharing, caring, and service. Mission Sunday 2026 was not merely a festive gathering but also a reminder of the responsibility of every Christian to bring hope, love, and compassion to those in need. The event concluded as a meaningful celebration of community spirit and missionary outreach, reflecting the true essence of the theme, “Missionaries of Hope Among the Peoples.”
