Maundy Thursday observed at Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail
On the 6th of April, at 6:30 PM Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail observed Maundy Thursday at Derebail Church Grounds. Rev. Fr Naveen Pinto was the main celebrant, Rev. Fr Joseph Martis - Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Gerald Pinto - Residential Priest and Rev. Fr Augustine - Lucknow Diocese were the co-celebrants.
Rev. Fr Naveen Pinto in his homily spoke on the Mystery of Faith. In relation to this, he narrated an incident that happened in Italy. In addition Fr Naveen quoted a few words of the former Pope and Saints in relation to the Mystery of Faith and Holy Eucharist. He spoke about priests and their mission. Fr Naveen briefed on how Eucharist is a mystery to be lived. He concluded with three major points -
Believe in the Eucharist, Celebrate the Eucharist and Live the Eucharist.
Jesus had set an example by Washing the feet of his Disciples. The Catholic Church recollects this noble gesture every year on Maundy Thursday. The Washing of feet was led by Rev Fr Joseph Martis. Twelve parishioners comprising Youth, Adults, elders and Sisters from the St Ann's Convent represented Jesus's disciples.
The melodious choir was led by the Youth of the parish.
Parishioners after the Holy Eucharist participated in prayer and singing which was conducted by Rev. Fr Naveen Pinto. Thereafter the Blessed Sacrament was taken in procession and was placed at the repose altar. The parishioners then spent some time in silent prayer before the repose altar.
