Konkani Retreat - 30 Mar 2014 Back

As the Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail is celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of the Parish; a  five day Konkani retreat has been arranged for the Parishioners from 30^th March to 3^rd April 2014.

The Retreat started at 4.30 PM on Sunday with Praise & Worship led by the Charismatic team.  At 5.00 PM, Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Rodrigues of Karwar Diocese commenced his preaching based on the theme “My Lord and my God”. He gave the example of Moses, who was a murderer, a fugitive and a wanderer.  But God in His mighty plan chose him to be his instrument to bring out the captive Israelites from Egypt. God called him from the burning bush and made him a leader to save his people. Again David was God’s anointed one, but he sinned grievously by killing Uriah and taking his wife as an adulterer. But when Prophet Nathan pointed out his sin he changed completely and asked God’s pardon.

In the New Testament, Mary Magdalene was a prostitute, but God’s mercy changed her completely, asking pardon by washing Jesus’ feet with her tears. St. Thomas the Apostle, refused to believe in the risen Lord, but when Jesus showed his pierced side and wounds, he cried out “My Lord and My God”. St. Ignatius of Loyola, a renowned ambitious soldier converted himself while he was in the hospital lying down with broken legs and later he became the founder of the Jesuit Order.

At the end, Father Bonaventure shared his own testimony of how his life was changed and how he became a charismatic preacher, and now he goes spreading the good news throughout the world by his experience of “My Lord and my God”.  The retreat concluded at 7.30 P.M with the benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

The church was over packed and the people experienced the joy and the consolation of this unique retreat of “My Lord and my God”.
