Inauguration of Catechism Classes at Derebail

The Catechism Class Academic Year 2019/20 commenced on the 09th of June, 2019 at Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail. After a vacation of about two months, children were seen all geared with excitement to meet their friends and their new Catechism teacher for the current academic year. After the Catechism class the children assembled at the Church for mass at 09:15 AM. A symbolic inauguration of the Catechism class for the year , a few teachers, youth and children offered plants to which Mr.Edward Coelho , the Coordinator and Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council watered the plants. This was also a symbolic inauguration of Laudato Si, a movement set forward by our Pope and Bishop, showing concern to the environment in and around us. This movement is to kindle within all the people of the world a concern towards nature and it's survival in a world that is at the brink of Climate Change.

Rev. Fr. Gratian Alvares was the main celebrant. Fr. Walter was a concelebrant. In his Homily Fr. Gratian Alvares highlighted on the significance of the Pentecost . Fr. Gratian administered oath to all teachers who have volunteered to teach Catechism for the current academic year.

The entire liturgy was conducted and led by the Catechism teachers. The academic year thus began on a positive note for the children , parents and teachers who aspire to grow in the spirit of Christ and the Catholic Church.
