Confraternity Sunday: Derebail Parish Exemplifies "Prayer: A Bridge between God and Thy Neighbour"

Derebail Parish observed Confraternity Sunday, 27 October 2024 with a Eucharistic Celebration at 4:30 pm, led by the main celebrant, Rev. Fr. Denis D'Sa, the Parish Priest of Thotham, with Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis, the Parish Priest and Rev. Fr. Kevin D'Souza, Associate Parish Priests as concelebrants.

The homily centered on three key themes: First, surrendering to God’s will. Second, understanding that the true essence of the Eucharist extends beyond church walls, inspiring faithful service to others, as Christ is present in both the Eucharist and in our neighbors. Third, faith requires action; without good deeds, it lacks true value. Concluding the message, the faithful were called to forgive and to treat each other with kindness.

Following the Mass, a solemn procession began at the church entrance, proceeded towards Konchady Katte, and returned. Parishioners, dressed in white and off-white, participated with candles and hymns, symbolizing unity. The evening concluded with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, accompanied by beautiful hymns by the church choir.

In his closing remarks, Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis thanked Rev. Fr. Denis D'Sa, the parishioners, parish associations, and the youth of Derebail for their enthusiastic participation. The Kannada commentary during the procession was provided Ms. Monti Andrade
