Commission for Environment Encourages Parishioners to Partake in 'My Tree', a Special Project

Commission for Environment, Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail, is in the phase of Celebrating Environmental Awareness Month.  ‘My Tree’ is a special project of Catholic Sabha, Mangalore Pradesh (R), Derebail Unit, in association with St Aloysius College Institutions. To kick start this project 5 saplings were symbolically handed over to 5 Parishioners by Rev Fr. Praveen Martis, Vice Chancellor of St Aloysisus College, on Sunday 11th August 2024. 

Rev Fr. Joseph Martis, Parish Priest,  Rev Fr. Kevin Lawrence D’souza, Asst Parish Priest, Mrs Sheela D’souza, Vice President, Mr. Anil Patrao, Convenor of 21 Commissions, Mr. Alwyn D’sa, Registrar, Mr. Arjun Mascarenhas, Representative of St Aloysius Institutions, Mr Patrick Alvares, Coordinator of Commission for Environment were also present. 
Rev Fr Joseph Martis, congratulated Rev Fr. Praveen Martis & his team for getting the ‘Deemed to be University’ Accreditation and thanked them for undertaking “My Tree” project in our Parish in association with Commission for Environment. He encouraged Parishioners to take care of the saplings, and to ensure that these will bear fruits within next three years.  
Rev Fr Praveen Martis thanked Parish Priest for giving this opportunity and appreciated the efforts of Mr. Arjun Mascarenhas and Commission for Environment members.

Mr. Arjun Mascarenhas, along with Commission members, visited 56 parishioners to ensure that the saplings were distributed appropriately, with the goal of them eventually becoming trees.
A total of 135 saplings of various varieties were distributed on Sunday.
The parishioners have shown keen interest and have participated enthusiastically in the “My Tree” contest.
The parishioners have exhibited their commitment to the growth of these plants as trees and contribute to the protection our Environment.
