Sports Club Derebail Organizes Sports Day for Parishioners

The Sports Club of Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail organized Sports Day for Derebail parishioners  on 8th September, 2023.

The Parish Priest, Rev.Fr.Joseph Martis began the programme by leading the prayer. Rev.Fr.Joseph Martis along with Mrs.Sheela D'Souza, Vice President of PPC; Mr.Denzil Pinto, Secretary of PPC, Mr.Anil Patrao, Coordinator of 21 Commissions, President of sports club Mr. sandesh Mascarenhas, Secretary Lydia Dcosta and Treasurer Mr. Lionel Saldanha graced the occassion.

Rev.Fr.Joseph Martis addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of sports in our lives. The dignitaries then officially inaugurated the event by tossing a coconut. 

Mr.Sheldon Crasta as the MC welcomed the gathering. Mrs.Pramila Furtado along with her team members conducted games for children and teenagers from Lower KG to Degree.

A special Throwball Tournament was conducted for women. Three teams took part in this event and the team under the captaincy of Mrs. Lydia Dcosta emerged as winners. Mrs.Teena and team won the Runners Up trophy.

The men participated in the Volley Ball Tournament that was conducted for them. Three teams participated. The winning team was led by Mr.Steven and the Runners Up team was led by Mr.Christen Menezes. 

Br.Mari Swamy won the Breaking the pot event and Mr.Shannon Pinto emerged as the Runner Up.

The dignitaries distributed the prizes. 

The MC Mr.Sheldon Crasta rendered the Vote of Thanks. 

Despite the rains creating a hindrance for the event, the smiles and energy on everyones faces kept the event going, making it a grand success
