Health Camp at Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail

The Women’s Association of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail, in association with the Family Commission, Women’s Commission, and Health Commission, organized a Health Camp for the general public on Friday, 30th May 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Church Basement Hall. Around 100 participants attended the event.

The programme commenced with a prayer song led by Mrs. Juliana Coelho, Secretary of the Women’s Association, and her team. Mrs. Coelho also formally welcomed the dignitaries Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis (Parish Priest), Rev. Fr. Steevan Nelson Peris  (Assistant Parish Priest), Mr. Denzil Fernandes (Vice President, Parish Pastoral Parishad), Mrs. Clotilda D’Souza (Secretary, Parish Pastoral Parishad), Mrs. Pramila Furtado (Coordinator, 18 Commissions) and Dr. Durgaprasad M.R., OBG(District Superintendent, Lady Goshen Hospital)

In his introductory address, Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis cautioned against relying on “Google doctors” and misleading online health advice. He urged everyone to consult qualified professionals and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Alfreeda then introduced the keynote speaker, Dr. Durgaprasad M.R. 

Dr. Durgaprasad spoke on the mother-child bond from conception and how it profoundly influences a mother’s psychological and hormonal health. He emphasized the vital role of husbands in supporting their spouses during health challenges. He also outlined the various medical facilities and benefits available at Lady Goshen Hospital for BPL and APL card holders, encouraging eligible families to avail them.

The office bearers of Women's association and the three commissions felicitated Dr. Durgaprasad M.R. for his valuable service.

Mrs. Jascintha Mascarenhas proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Pramila Furtado compered the programme.

Refreshments were served to all those who were present.
