Derebail Parish Catholic Sabha Organizes Pilgrimage to the Miraculous Christ the King Church, Vilakkannur

On 13 November, 2025, the Catholic Sabha, Derebail Unit organized a pilgrimage to Christ the King Church, Vilakkannur, where the Eucharistic host, bearing the image of Christ, was recently recognized by the Vatican as a miracle. Around 72 members from Derebail Parish accompanied by Rev. Fr. Kevin Dsouza, Director, Kripa Sadhana, Bajpe, Mangalore, joined the journey.

The pilgrims started their journey at 6.15 AM from Derebail Church and boarded the 7.20 AM train to Kannur. At the onset, Rev. Fr. Kevin led the group into prayer, seeking God's presence and blessings throughout the day and on their journey. They arrived at Kannur railway station at 9.45AM, from where they proceeded to Sr. Maria Celine's Ursuline Chapel and Mother Petra's Convent, both in Kannur. There they celebrated the Holy Eucharist with Fr. Kevin as the celebrant, followed by a fellowship meal. Later, the group toured the convent's museum, taking time to reflect on the contributions of the Ursuline community in that region.

Post-lunch, the pilgrims made their way to Christ the King Church in Vilakkannur, where the miraculous host is publicly displayed for veneration. The Eucharistic host bears the image of Christ's face, a phenomenon first observed during Mass on 15th November 2013 by then parish priest Rev. Fr. Thomas Pathickal.

 After the visit, the pilgrims enjoyed evening tea before returning to Kannur station to board the 6.30 PM train to Mangalore, arriving around 9.15PM.

The journey was spiritually uplifting. The members enjoyed each others company and sang songs throughout the journey.
